Entire rear driveshaft (& U-joint) replaced as a sub-assembly and a new pinion seal installed. Much quieter & smoother now. If your rear driveshaft comes out to be inspected, match-mark it so it goes back in at the same orientation & balance. Changed the fluid in both differentials at 36,000 and 65,000 miles.

Evidently it had lost enough gas to make the powered strut on the driver's side think that their was an obstruction near the top end of the travel.2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee engine problems with 102 complaints from Grand Cherokee owners.
